OGCSA Provides Keepsake Flags For the State High School Golf Championships

In an effort to gain name recognition and familiarity of the role of the golf course superintendent, the OGCSA will provide keepsake flags for all of the medalist and the winning team.

The Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Association has teamed with the Oregon State Activities Association to supply souvenir flags for all of the state golf championships.

Last year after hosting the 4A Boys Championship David Phipps, Superintendent at Stone Creek Golf Club in Oregon City, felt that it would be nice to provide the winning team and the top medalist each a souvenir flag that would be used during the 36 hole competition. The OGCSA Board unanimously approved the idea to purchase 105 flags to be used in the 5 tournaments throughout the state.

The five tournaments held May 15th and 16th were hosted at the OGA Golf Course at Tukwila Superintendent Ryan Wycoff, Stone Creek Golf Club Superintendent David Phipps, Eagle Crest Resort Course Superintendent Bob Meyer, Eagle Crest Ridge Course Superintendent Shan Hartford, and Trysting Tree Golf Club Superintendent Pat Doran, CGCS.

By supporting the tournaments the OGCSA hope to enhance its role in today’s golf to the youth and to promote the role of the superintendent at their facilities.
