POSITION: 1st Assistant Superintendent, Nicklaus Course

Under the supervision of the Nicklaus Golf Course Superintendent, the 1st Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in golf course maintenance on a daily basis.  The Assistant is responsible for administering employee training and keeping all training records, keeping daily log reports and filling the role of Superintendent when needed.  Normal duties include daily golf course setup and equipment operation, irrigation repair and maintenance, chemical application, staff training and scheduling, expense and agronomic planning, and vendor coordination.

Pronghorn is a 36 hole semi-private resort community located on a square mile surrounded by BLM land between Bend and Redmond, Oregon. The Jack Nicklaus Signature course opened in 2003, and the Fazio Championship course opened two years after in 2005. Both courses have remained among Oregon’s best since opening. Pronghorn has been a Troon managed facility since 2010.  In 2019, the Huntington Lodge opened, offering a 104 room luxury lodge to the public. Pronghorn’s location offers 360 degree views of Central Oregon’s high desert, including the Cascade Mountains to the west, Smith Rock to the north, and Powell Butte to the east.

Two or Four year degree in agronomy, horticulture, turfgrass management, or related field. Preferred minimum two years of golf course experience, however recent turf graduates would be highly considered. Obtain or possess Oregon Commercial Pesticide Applicator License within 90 days of hire.

$40,000-$45,000 to start DOE
