Educational Requirements:

Certificate from college or technical school; three to six months related experience and or training; or equivalent combination and experience. Experience managing and working with coworkers. Mechanics Certificate from Gas and Diesel Engine Training preferred.

Experience Requirements:

The Equipment Manager reports to the Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent while overseeing a preventive maintenance program. This program includes the diagnostics and repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or services. The equipment manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the Director of Agronomy while overseeing the assistant mechanic.


Working knowledge of turf cutting units regarding daily setup, adjustments, grinding and maintenance preferred. Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience with turf equipment strongly preferred.  Experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engines. Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems. Ability to maintain a safe working fleet and shop and to order parts and while working within a budget. Help develop and grow the Assistant Mechanic position.

Special Requirements:

Places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area.

– Organization of workspace and paperwork is a needed.

– Position entails maintaining and repairing all golf course equipment.

– Trains and schedule the assistant mechanic.

– Responsible for record keeping of maintenance and repair activities.
– Looking for a highly motivated individual who is able to prioritize equipment repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.
– Willingness to improve upon the preventative maintenance programs currently in place.
– Communicate with Golf Course Superintendent on a daily basis to ensure proper setup of equipment and make management aware of all equipment failures.
– Qualified applicants must be able to diagnose and make repairs in the field.
– Responsible for checking mowing equipment daily on the golf course to ensure consistency and quality.
– Working knowledge of the equipment and be able to train the staff in safe and proper operation.
– Effectively be able communicate with staff in a team environment.
-Involved in the acquisition of needed equipment and the justification of replacing equipment that has surpassed its useful life.
-Responsible for ordering of parts and maintaining parts inventory.
-Maintain and work within a set budget.

-Basic tool set to maintain equipment.


Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club is currently seeking an Equipment/Shop Manger to rebuild a solid maintenance program that was started four years ago.  Our goal is to provide a great golfing experience for members and guests while working with our set expectations. We are located 20 miles west of downtown Portland are two championship golf courses. Both were etched into the landscape by renowned golf course architect Bob Cupp.  Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club currently hosts LIV GOLF Portland Invitational. Pumpkin Ridge Ghost Creek is rated as in top 100 daily fee golf course.

Pumpkin Ridge’s front-line equipment inventory includes John Deere and Toro equipment, SIP Grinding set up along with various brands of cultivation equipment.

$65,000 to $80,000 Salaried Position
