    Job Description

  1. Ensure customer satisfaction through prompt, efficient, and friendly service.
  2. Shall maintain landscaping of all WRC properties, and medians with irrigation, weeding, and mowing if applicable.
  3. Occasional job sharing with Golf Grounds Maintenance.
  4. Work duties are performed outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions such as hot sun, wind, rain, cold, etc.
  5. Must be physically able to operate maintenance equipment, Sprayers, mowers, hand tools, and other Landscape equipment.
  6. Must be able to work independently, and assist Landscape Manager and Golf Course Superintendent as needed.
  7. Prepares chemical mixtures and applies appropriately to control weeds, and disease and fertilizes golf courses and resort landscaping.
  8. Ensure chemicals are appropriately stored and handled.
  9. Will operate and transport equipment including pulling a trailer with a pick-up truck, utility vehicle, or golf cart between golf courses.
  10. Provide routine maintenance of equipment and tools reporting any safety issues or repair needs to supervisor.
  11. Maintains comprehensive records and files necessary for all pest control supplies.
  12. Participate in Workshops and Seminars applicable to the position.
  13. Is required to operate a motor vehicle, will provide a valid driver’s license, be insurable, and consent to driving background history.
  14. While operating equipment consider guests’ comfort and safety at all times.
  15. Comply with regulatory laws, employee handbook, department policy and procedures, safety codes, etc.
  16. Promotes a clean, safe, and healthy work environment for employees and guests. Promptly reports all concerns to the Supervisor.
  17. Ensure that the operation of equipment, tools, and materials are handled safely.
  18. Promote internal guest service standards through courteous and respectful behavior.
  19. Be actively involved with all aspects of the Grounds Maintenance Department including mowing, irrigation repair and operation, landscape projects, snow removal, special event setup, and daily maintenance.
  20. Other duties as assigned or directed.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:

  1. Will supervise Landscape and Golf groundskeepers while performing pest control and/or fertility applications, and at other times when assigned by the Landscape Manager.

SIGNATORY ABILITY:

  1. None.

ACCESS TO SENSITIVE AREAS:

  1. Keys to the grounds maintenance facility and pest control storage

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Two (2) years experience in agricultural, horticultural, or turf and landscape maintenance.
  2. Possess or obtain a Pesticide applicator license within 90 days of hire.
  3. High School Diploma or GED.
  4. Physically fit: able to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs., extensive use of back, arms, hands, and extended time kneeling.
  5. Ability to operate light utility vehicles, backhoes, ditch trenchers, and golf carts.
  6. Valid State Driver’s License and be able to meet WRC insurance requirements.
  7. Requires a criminal history background check.
  8. Must be at least 18 years of age.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certificate of completion or AA degree in Turfgrass Management or Ornamental Horticulture from an accredited college or university.
