2019 Crew Tournament Recap
The Summer heat didn’t stop the 216 players from battling it out on Tuesday, August 27th for the 38th OGCSA Crew Tournament championship title.
In the 4-person team scramble, a gross score of 57 from Emerald Valley is what it took to take home the trophy. Congratulations to Emerald Valley Crew members: Don Rhodes, Julio Olvera, Dayne Miller and Mark Verplank…..well played gentlemen.
Willamette Valley Country Club #1 came in second with a score of 58. By being the top two teams in the gross division, Emerald Valley and Willamette Valley Country Club #1 will represent the OGCSA in the Northwest playoff against the top two teams from WWGCSA, Suncadia Resort and Sand Point Country Club in a competition to be held this Fall in Washington.

To put on a golf tournament that runs from sun up to to sun down with tee times going off every 9 minutes it takes any army of staff and volunteers. We would like to recognize a few of the amazing people that make this event run so smoothly. This year we had the pleasure of having Kevin Sunderland, a Director from the GCSAA Board and a superintendent from Tampa Florida stop by. We didn’t waste any time putting him to work scoring with seasoned volunteer Larry Conkings from Precision Laboratories.
A special recognition this year goes to Stan Presley and his daughters Sophie and Abbi. Sophie and Abbi have been assisting with the Crew Tournament for the past 11 years and this may have been their last event. These ladies show up at the crack of dawn and have been in charge of taking the coveted crew tournament photos, running the skills game and putting together all the the prizes at the end. We cannot thank them enough for the longstanding support. Hopefully we will see you next year, but if we don’t we hope you will still stop by and say Hi. We wish you all the best in your future adventures. THANK YOU!
Last but not least this event is made possible from the continued support from the Wilbur Ellis Company, support from our members, host Superintendent Adam Vidourek and Arrowhead Golf Club. See you in 2020!
