Cross Creek Golf Course is a 200+ acre public golf facility located in Oregon’s scenic Mid-Willamette Valley, approximately 13 miles west of Salem along Highway 22. The property features an 18-hole golf course and a full driving range, offering a blend of traditional and links-style design that stretches nearly 6,900 yards from the back tees. Wide fairways, strategic hazards, and large greens provide an engaging challenge for players of all skill levels.
Cross Creek is known for its welcoming, community-focused atmosphere and strong commitment to delivering consistent course conditions year-round. The facility supports daily public play, leagues, tournaments, instruction, and events, making turf quality, presentation, and efficiency key operational priorities.
We are seeking a Golf Course Superintendent who values agronomic excellence, leadership, and long-term property stewardship. This role is responsible for the overall management, conditioning, and presentation of the golf course and its associated grounds, ensuring that all playing surfaces meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. The Superintendent will work closely with ownership and staff to continually enhance playability, aesthetics, and maintenance practices across the property, while leading all agronomic operations, staff management, and long-term course improvement initiatives to support an exceptional golfer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily maintenance and agronomic practices for all playing surfaces, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and landscaped areas.
- Develop and implement comprehensive turf management programs, including irrigation, fertilization, pest management.
- Manage, train, and supervise maintenance staff; foster a positive and professional work environment.
- Prepare the golf course for daily play, junior leagues, and special events, ensuring consistent playing conditions.
- Develop and manage the departmental budget, including labor, equipment, supplies, and capital improvements.
- Maintain and operate irrigation systems; monitor water usage and promote environmentally responsible practices.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to safety, labor, and environmental stewardship.
- Coordinate with the General Management staff to align course conditions with course goals and customer expectations.
- Oversee equipment maintenance and replacement planning.
- Plan and execute short- and long-term course improvement and renovation projects.
Work Environment:
- This position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions and may involve early mornings, weekends, and holidays to meet course and event demands.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Degree or certification in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of turfgrass species, soil science, irrigation systems, and modern maintenance practices.
- Ability to manage budgets and analyze operational data effectively.
- Commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and best management practices.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain Oregon Department of Agriculture non-commercial pesticide applicators license.
- Minimum of 3 year proven track record.
