Position: Golf Course Superintendent
Reports To: Director of Agronomy
Supervises: Assistant Superintendent, Irrigation Technician, Grounds Staff
Position Summary
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the management and execution of maintenance and operations for the golf course, practice areas, and Clubhouse grounds. The Superintendent works closely with the Director of Agronomy to implement agronomic plans, manage resources, and lead the golf course maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
Course Maintenance and Management
- Manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations for maintenance of the golf course and grounds.
- Implement maintenance programs to ensure the course is in optimal playing condition year-round.
- Assess, modify, and implement agronomic programs and practices.
Team Management
- Recruit, train, and supervise the golf course maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability.
- Schedule staff assignments to meet daily and seasonal maintenance needs.
Budgeting and Resource Management
- Assist the Director of Agronomy to prepare and manage the annual operating and capital expenditure budgets.
- Monitor inventory levels, and when necessary, work with the Director of Agronomy to procure necessary supplies.
Environmental Stewardship
- Implement sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact and align with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Oversee irrigation management, including irrigation system operation, upgrades, and conservation efforts.
- Monitor and manage plant protectant and fertilizer applications in compliance with state regulations.
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure the compliance with OSHA standards.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the Director of Agronomy to align maintenance practices with strategic objectives.
- Provide regular updates on course conditions and maintenance progress to Director of Agronomy as well as others outside the department on an as-needed basis.
- Collaborate with other departments to support tournaments, events, and daily operations.
Benefits
- Salary – $95,000-105,000

Education/Experience
- Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field
- Oregon Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- 5+ years experience in roles with increasing responsibilities
- Extensive knowledge of cool season turfgrass management
