A rare and exciting opportunity
Wenatchee Golf & Country Club is looking for our next Golf Course Superintendent, and this is not your average opening. Our long-tenured Superintendent is retiring at the end of this year after decades of caring for, improving, and preserving a course our members are genuinely proud of. We want to bring his successor on board early so the two can work side by side, giving you a rare chance to learn the ins and outs of this property directly from the person who knows it best before you take the reins.
On top of that, this summer our membership will vote on an architectural plan from acclaimed designer Dan Hixson for an exciting course renovation. If approved, the Superintendent we hire will be deeply involved in bringing that vision to life, from planning through construction and grow-in. The project timeline is still taking shape, and your expertise will help guide phasing, preparation, construction planning, and grow-in strategy. For an ambitious professional ready to make a name in this business, it is hard to imagine a better stage: a healthy club, a respected course, a tenured team, and the opportunity to help shape a signature renovation.
Club Profile
• Private, member-owned club founded in 1923.
• 18-hole, par-72 championship course and one of Central Washington’s oldest and most respected golf venues.
• Approximately 405 golf memberships (391 full-member equivalents); annual rounds: 22,000.
• Irrigation: Seasonal Wenatchee River canal water managed by the Wenatchee Reclamation District, typically available from mid-April through October, with two storage ponds – one serving the front nine and one serving the back nine.
• Potable water: High-quality Eastbank Aquifer water distributed by the East Wenatchee Water District and Chelan County PUD.
• Approximately $900,000 annual golf course maintenance budget and a full-time Equipment Manager/Mechanic.
• Strong financial position and an engaged membership.
Why you will love it here
• Mentorship and a smooth handoff. Step into the role with a paid overlap alongside our retiring Superintendent and his decades of knowledge about this property.
• A team that already runs well. You will inherit a long-tenured seasonal crew that knows the property and the operation inside and out.
• Build your own leadership team. With the First Assistant position becoming available, you will have the opportunity to select and develop your own right hand, helping shape the department’s leadership from the beginning.
• A career-defining opportunity. If approved, play a central role in a Dan Hixson renovation, the kind of project that can put a superintendent on the map.
• Quality is our point of pride. Course conditioning, playability, and presentation are central to the member experience.

Who we are looking for
We would love to hear from an ambitious, up-and-coming turf professional who is eager to step up and make their mark, whether you are an established Superintendent or a strong Assistant ready for your first head role. Most of all, we want someone who cares deeply about course quality, enjoys leading people, and is excited to help shape the future of a club that is going places.
• Degree or coursework in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
• Hands-on golf course experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
• Working knowledge of agronomy, irrigation, water management, and modern turf practices.
• Washington State Pesticide Applicator license, or the ability to obtain one shortly after hire.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, and a genuine team-first attitude.
• Interest or experience in golf course construction or renovation is a big plus.
• Member-first mindset: Communicates clearly and patiently with members and leadership, educates golfers about maintenance practices and course care, and balances agronomic decisions with playability, presentation, and club priorities.
