2021 Winter Kill Prevention & Recovery With Dr. Paul Koch

Winter kill can lead to devastating amounts of injury that can result in months of poor playing conditions. In this 2 hour webinar we will discuss the various types of winter kill, focusing on those that are most likely to occur in central and eastern Oregon. We will introduce the environmental conditions that lead to each type of winter kill, what strategies exist for preventing winter kill from occurring, and how to optimize your recovery time. Ample time for questions and discussion will be provided throughout the webinar. You may also send in questions ahead of time to ogcsa@ogcsa.org

About the Speaker:

Paul Koch, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Plant Pathology, Molecular and Environmental Toxicology Center

University of Wisconsin – Madison


Paul is an associate professor in the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and has been with UW in various roles since 2005. Paul’s research focuses primarily on developing precision disease management strategies for snow mold and dollar spot in turfgrass and investigating the fate and impact of turfgrass pesticides in the environment. Paul also oversees the University of Wisconsin’s Turfgrass Diagnostic Lab and the UW Turfgrass Fungicide Testing Program.
