Message from Scott Moffenbeier, OGCSA Immediate Past President – March 2026

Friends of Turf,

The turfgrass management profession is unique in its willingness to come together in support of shared goals. In recent years, superintendents and turf teams have faced unprecedented demands, balancing increased play and rising expectations with responsible stewardship and limited resources. Research has been instrumental in guiding these efforts, equipping turf managers with the tools and knowledge needed to deliver quality playing conditions while planning for a more sustainable future.

Once again, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), through the GCSAA Foundation, will host the Rounds 4 Research online auction, running April 20–26. This program partners with more than 70 regional chapters across the U.S. and Canada to raise funds dedicated to turfgrass research. The Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Association (OGCSA) is proud to work closely with the Foundation to facilitate the program locally, with 80% of all funds raised returning directly to our chapter.

Those funds are reinvested into turfgrass research at Oregon State University, where the work being done has a direct and meaningful impact on turf managers throughout our region. Along with the Oregon Turfgrass Foundation (OTF) and the Oregon Golf Association (OGA), the OGCSA has supported the OSU Turf Technician position for more than a decade with an annual $50,000 contribution. This ongoing commitment ensures research remains practical, relevant, and accessible to those managing turf in Oregon.

We invite you to support this important effort by donating rounds of golf at your facility. In 2025, the OGCSA received 48 donations, generating a record $13,995. The continued growth of this program has also allowed the Association to strengthen member engagement and build on programs such as scholarships offerings.

Donations can be made using the form below or at www.rounds4research.com, where you can also preview auction items and learn more about the program. If you donated last year, you’ll receive an email with your information pre-filled; simply confirm or update your donation and submit. As always, facilities may apply any restrictions they feel are appropriate.
